Our story began at the Turku Shipyard in Finland in the 1970s, driven by a practical need. Sheet metal worker Tauno Keskisarja faced daily challenges when working with ship blocks and other heavy steel structures. To make his work easier, he began designing and manufacturing his own specialized tools. These innovations laid the foundation for Craftmer’s expertise and values: a deep understanding of the work, uncompromising quality, and practical ingenuity.
What began in the 1970s led to the founding of Craftmer Oy in 1991, with international exports starting almost immediately. Today, our products are used on five continents and in more than 50 shipyards worldwide. Our tools are trusted by leading shipyards such as Meyer Turku (Finland) and Meyer Papenburg (Germany), BAE Maritime Solutions (UK), and Irving Shipbuilding (Canada).
All Craftmer tools are manufactured in Finland. We design and produce tools for shipyard plate fitters, welders, and shipwrights, as well as for offshore, heavy steel construction, and the automotive industry. We also develop custom-engineered solutions tailored to our customers’ specific requirements.
Every tool is developed in close cooperation with industry professionals and tested under demanding conditions before delivery. If a tool performs in heavy industry, it performs anywhere.
